i will remember

when i am cranky and temperamental because there is laundry to be done and dinner to be made, i will remember to be thankful to have clothes to wash and food to prepare;

when i am frustrated because of traffic or crowded stores or inconsiderate people, i will remember to be thankful that i live in a country where i can mingle with my countrymen without fear of prosecution;

when i am too tired to tidy the house or help with homework, i will remember to be thankful that i can live safely with my family in my homeland;

when i am feeling like a small and insignificant spec in this universe,
when i hesitate to do one small turn for another for fear that it won't be *enough,*
when i pridefully put my wants and desires ahead of others,

i will remember benazir bhutto, who lived, and died, for freedom.

what a beautiful post. i was so sad to hear about her death- it was shocking and i felt a sense of loss i wasn't prepared for as i didn't follow her closely. i really appreciate your post- what great thoughts, especially during the christmas season.

I'm glad you posted this, Lelly, as it's stuck with me for many hours tonight.

She was an incredibly noble lady, and extremely well educated and erudite. She didn't deserve this kind of savage end. Nobody does.

I watched the comments from Bush, Brown, Musharraf and Nawaz Sharif quite literally with bated breath.

I am heartsick over this, too. It's shocking and yet somehow, so disappointingly, not a surprise after October.

Thanks for your lovely words.

I was shocked (though I guess I shouldn't have been) at this news. Devastating...and I am left with that feeling of scattered hopelessness for the cause of freedom.

Your thoughts were deeply moving to me and spot-on. Amen from here.

My mom's uncle was an American diplomat and lived for many years in Pakistan. In fact, my mom's cousins went to school with Benazir Bhutto. I'm feeling the loss of this great woman I am just a couple degrees of seperation from.
