spt

it is quite a thing to include your loved ones in "self-portraits." somehow, the person NOT holding the camera invariably does not appreciate multiple retakes. when they start moaning incoherently, or worse, running from the room, you've got to cut your losses pretty quickly.

but before the inevitable spt mutiny, you will probably capture some fantastic photos that capture "true life" with your loved ones. like this one:

my son is on the verge of turning eight, and he lives a life of extremes. he is extremely energetic, extremely goofy, extremely sensitive. and when i tried to take our picture last night, he was extremely uncooperative!

he is also extremely cheeky - do you see that little tongue sticking out??

this last photo captures it all. i had so much to do last night. between preparing for soup swap and getting ready to head out of town, i am shuffling between several to-do lists. my little boy, who thinks i am going to be gone for an extremely long time, really just wanted to play board games last night.

and so, we did.

Great shots of the two of you. My son is also extremely uncooperative when it comes to taking pictures. He is 13 and runs away.......

Sweet! Love the foot shot at the end. They are little for such a short time . . .

i know this feeling well.

especially the need for good time together with the girls prior to leaving town. oy, the guilt usually gets me to do just about any thing.

i can't believe you are doing the swap the night before.

wow, you constantly amaze, as usual.

I loved this post. And all you say about joint sp's with the littles - too true.

Best of luck getting all your ducks in a row...it sounds like you have some fun times ahead! Can't wait for the details.

How fun. I especially love the last photo. What a great idea!

Fun pictures. The foot one is my favorite.

Thanks for the reminder early on to include others in our self portraits. It is easier sometimes to just work with yourself...

Yeah my pictures are still on the move, going to try to get them to hold still maybe while eating, no guarantees. Love the shot with you two on the ground.

Love it! What cute pictures! I think it is even better that you played games when you had so much to do. I think I need to remember that more, some things can wait. Have a great time on your trip!

These photos are so great. I love how funny the outtakes can be, those are often my favorite pictures.

Jack is adorable...and I bet he truly does love sp's!

I had to dig deep and be resourceful for this one. My hubby runs the other way when I mention blog pictures!

wonderful post...it is my resolution for the new year to stop and enjoy! This is SO tought for me. Love your pictures.

I've got my picture and my post is rambling around in my brain. SPT post to come later this evening when I get home from work and download my pictures :o)

Great photos Lelly! As a mother of a son the same age as Jack, I can certainly sympathize :) If we lived closer they would be great playmates!

Even though he was extremely wiggly, your shots came out great. I especially like the one with your feet in front of the fireplace. How cute is that?!?!

Your thought on including others in self-portraits are so very true. Multiple retakes are just not appreciated. However you certainly got some very cute shots. I love the little tongue.

Good to know I'm not the only one who meets familial resistence to group self portraits!
You are a good mom to take the time for games.

I think what I love most about self portraits with other is that you are capturing true life. Cute photos of the two of you. Love how spontaneous they are.

Fun fun shots- the tongue is my fav since it helps define your son's personality!

Oh, this is oh so familiar. Whenever my 8 year old sees the camera now she insists on sticking out her tongue. She is trying to thwart my self portrait ways!

You two look very snuggly and cozy while playing games.

Enjoy crossing off all your to do lists before your trip!

I love the one with his foot on yours!

Love the photos! You really captured the moment and that's what really matters....because they grow so fast!

You're such a good Mom!

I hope you have a wonderful time and your soup tastes good.

I cannot thank you enough for hosting SPT's. I so appreciate having pictures of myself in our family album :)

Oh the MUTINY! I am laughing...does this happen to us all? But when it comes down to it...the "REAL" is much better than the "PERFECT" any day...I love the cheeky tongue!

Fun pictures. And, amen. My male-loved-ones were also not as "in" to the photo shoot as I was. Go figure.

LOVE your sp's today!!! Awesome, as always!!!
I am so glad I do this, even though I often turn my nose up at my image....it is a great thing to do!

Love the pics, you guys look so cozy in front of the fireplace.

i love these! My daughter always looks drugged when i try to get pics of the two of us, so i chose the next best victim... my husband.

I loved the way you perfectly captured the aversion to "take two." It is the same story over here.

And you can't go wrong with board games...no matter how many lists you're juggling.

patsy said...

darling photos!
I have to admit... board games with an eight year old-
and with that to do list-

You should be MOTHER OF THE YEAR!!
or at least the month, or day or something...
great spt

Boy can I relate to this post. Trying to take spt photos with seven different subjects was quite the adventure. But so worth it.

I love board game night! So much fun! Especially with the feet, hehe. Truly the only way to play the game properly is with bare feet.

Great photos. I also love a good game night!

A day late, but it is so great to be back... SPT rocks!

I love the fact that, if it were not for your SPT project, you just wouldn't take pictures like this, would you? My mum always says, 'You were at the front of the queue when God was handing out cheek, weren't you?' Haha!

Amanda :-) said...

She also says, 'It wasn't from the ground he licked it' - meaning there might be a bit of parental influence there - eh? What do you think??!

Alisa said...

I think it will be great years from now to look at this photo and remember how little his feet were.

Kristie said...

I just came over here from Alisa's blog and TOTALLY want to take part in this challenge. Of course, I'm fairly techno-challenged so the linking part intimidates me, but I'm going to give it a try!

vgsmom said...

I just came over from Alisa's blog and am copying Kristie. I feel challenged by this too but I think it will be great way to get my daughter involved. Thanks for the idea.
