resistance is... futile?

just today, i have been the recipient of three "desperate" sounding emails:

1) we need more soccer coaches for the boys
2) we need Sunday School teachers
3) we need to create a "working moms" group at church

these are not the type of emails i need to receive.

these are the types of emails that cause me to overextend my overextended self.

(these are the types of emails that make me question if i'm doing enough.)

these are the types of emails i can't ignore...

Oh, Lelly. I don't know if this is appropriate, but when stuff like this comes my way I remember the advice I once got, "Whenever you say yes to one thing it means you are saying no to another. Make sure you're saying yes to the most important thing."

Good luck saying Yes!

I like Jane's comment, too. Any one of those email requests would be a lot, but all 3???

resist! and don't have guilt. jane is right - say YES to the important things. you have enough on your plate already! :)

why is it so HARD to say no?

Bowing down to Jane!! Excellent advice. I know you're not going to say yes to all 3, right?

Life is busy, busy, busy and full full full.

At least it's all good stuff, right?

It could be, "Lelly--for the next month you get to spend mega-time and figure out new employment, because you've just been laid off, or Lelly--the church has burned down, help us rebuild in your free time, or Lelly--a close family member has a chronic illness and now needs to live with you and receive in-home care."

That sounds kind of morbid now that I read back over it . . . I meant for it to be a funny little reality check. I give myself that little reality check whenever my life is so full it's brimming over. "It's all good stuff" I tell myself, "It's all good."

I needed to come read that tonight!

it's all so though because they are all things that are needed and you think are important to you and your family....I have such a tough time KNOWING what I should say yes to! Although I try REALLY hard to THINK about it before I just JUMP right in because that is what I have a tendency to do!
