challenger

last week, jack took a break from *camp seabreeze* and suited up for a week of soccer camp. he has never played soccer before, but received a week of camp as a birthday present. the camp was put on by challenger sports, and he spent the week with some very entertaining coaches from around Great Britain.

he was pleased to run into some school friends at camp. two of his cousins were also at camp, although they participated in the pre-school hour. it was hot as blazes, and i can't imagine running around for three hours every day, but he had a blast!

the coaches were all about college age (i'm guessing), with deep roots in the international sport of soccer. on the first day of camp, the campers were divided into *countries,* and on the last day, there was a mini World Cup. great fun!!

we had a little trauma when jack was assigned to the team from Scotland, not the team from Sweden. a little more trauma when jack announced at 10:45 pm, the night before the World Cup, "i need a flag for Scotland!"

you can TOTALLY guess which flag we made. the bigger the better, right?!?)

jack was over the moon to be goalie, and he dazzled us as Scotland cruised through the World Cup with nary a goal scored against them.

i see fall soccer league in our future. thanks aunt jen & uncle adrian for an awesome week!

What a cool Christmas present. We enjoyed a little Challenger soccer ourselves this summer. How hunky are those British accented coaches, by the way?! Yum!

Go Scotland!

That sounds like a fun week. My kids have never done anything like that before. I don't know if they would be happy about being in the heat playing soccer all week. (They must be a lot like me.)

What a great activity for him, and Brit coaches - all the better! Haha! Sadly, the reality for Scotland's football team falls far short of what Jack's team achieved.

(Erin had a shy, smiley look at Jack this morning on your blog and still likes him. I can't believe how much his hair has grown! Is he going to get a summer shearing at all?)
