photoless phriday

i have two words for you this week:

back
pain

i have been experiencing some major back pain this week (which has NOTHING to do with the fact that i worked 12 hours on tuesday in my really cute boots. NOTHING at all to do with that...) i haven't had this kind of pain since the year after jack was born, when i finally dealt with a thirteen-year-old herniated disc that had been plaguing me since college.

have i ever told you that story? the story about how i herniated a disc on Christmas Day, simply by laughing too hard... laughter is not always the best medicine, my friends...

so i've been hobbling around, awkwardly trying to carry my hot water bottle with me, eating pain relievers like candy, and pretty much feeling cranky. the prescribed remedy - RESTING - is not one of my favorite pasttimes. but, i'll admit, i'm not getting much else done.

in fact, here's a list of what is NOT getting done while i'm "resting":

laundry
blogging
grocery shopping
planning for easter
returning emails
maneuvering through the new facebook
exercising
eating properly
speaking kindly
laughing (i really have learned my lesson!)

hope you have a fantastic weekend! i'd stick around and chat, but i need to refill my water bottle, and it's going to take me twenty minutes to get to the fridge...

I had to laugh at the "speaking kindly" included on your list of what's not getting done. Pure honesty! That's the first thing to go when I'm deeply pained. Sadly. I hope you are feeling better very soon!

hot water bottles need to make a comeback. seriously, they are exactly what you need when you need them.

Herniated disks are the worst, and act up at the worst time! I herniated mine jumping on the trampoline. Feel better soon, Lelly!

oh, you poor thing! i'm so sorry, i wish we lived closer, i would bring you some warm soup. of course, you probably have some in the freezer so what am thinking? well, i would bring you something warm!

speaking kindly has nothing to do with getting rest. :)

The angst over all the stuff that's not getting done is the killer, isn't it? I've still got this gastric flu thing and can't drive anywhere. It's very hopeless-feeling :-(

Can you get those adhesive heat-pads? Mr H has virtually permanent back pain from something he pulled years ago while changing the wheel of my car. I can only sympathise, as I see him every day doing exercises just to keep any major 'twangs' in check. I hope your pain disappears as suddenly as it appeared (((hugs))).

I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. Back pain is brutal and affects everything else.

I know you're used to being on-the-go all the time, but surely some quality time on the couch or in bed with a good book could be welcomed. I hope the boys take care of you so you don't hobble around trying to fill up your own water bottle. Do you have a heating pad?

The price of beauty and happiness. :S
Sorry to hear your laid out. I hope you feel better soon.

I've missed SPT for two weeks...that will never happen again. Looking forward to this week.

Take care....
