words come in very handy

last week, i hinted that a maelstrom might be a' brewing. i was feeling foggy, there was a 100% chance of showers, my deportment was somewhat stormy.

as it often goes with weather forecasting, we can't possibly know that the next day may bring a deluge, even when the sun seems to be poking through the clouds. that a phone call from school on a beautiful spring day could bring me from *almost* ebullient to downright lachrymose.

they're back.

i knew i was acting inimically as i gathered jack from the director's office. while his behavior was tractable, even his fun smile couldn't prevent a few of my own tears from escaping. how could i be dragooned into even one more hour of the most sedulous of activities?

it was straight to the barber, followed by two doses of the *good stuff* liberally applied throughout the weekend.

the denoument is that he passed the first checkpoint this morning. i am listening to fun Irish music to chase away any semblance of a lugubrious mood. but i'm querulously holding my breath every time the phone rings.

many, many thanks to april, for challenging me to enjoy telling this story!

Nooooo!!! Oh the humanity.

Oh the humanity is right! That was a fantastic use of all the words of the week, but I sure wish you didn't have to use any of them. I think you better add a nice "Damn!" to your vocabulary.

Good grief, these little buggers are making you an exterminator!

I'm so sorry. I know it's a common thing, but I actually fear this happening! I think it would creep me out! And I'm not sure I could use all those words to cope!

Hoping things are critter free soon.

It will truly test my motherliness when it comes time to deal with these little beasties. Seriously. I'm not sure I could. But really there would not be a choice..would there?

I'm LOVING your lexicon!

Oh my - You dont know me - I am Jennifer sister in law - but hey I can tell you all about head lice, I think if I keep going your blog would explode because it would have information overload!!!
My youngest daughter has had them almost continuously since Prep (the year before grade one in Australia) - she is now in GRADE 5. Luckily (learned this from the older two), once they start to go through puberty the head lice dont like them anymore and they rarely get them.
We spend $600 dollars YES $600 one year on treatments for her hair, so everyone at the school calls me now if they have a problem because I can tell you if the eggs are live or not and can spot the little critters a mile away!!! I will also tell you that over the last 15 years they have mutated!!! When my eldest got them (Grade 2) she only had them a few times, and they were small little creatures, now they resemble fleas - OH MY I CAN GO ON AND ON.
Basically my research and extensive product use over the years has brought me to this conclusion. The lice themselves have developed a tolerance to the active ingredient in the products and the stuff that was working wont work now. You have to try and find a product that you have not used before. Hey - send me your address I will send you something from Australia it might work!!! Anyway, after doing the whole lice process twice a week for the last 5 years, I know what you are going through, and even when we are that diligent - she still gets them - go figure. So what we are doing now and for the past year or so is twice a week we completely smother her head in (cheap) conditioner and wrap it in a shower cap and leave it on for half an hour. Then we use a long stainless steel rounded toothed comb (when this particular comb came out on the market I was screaming in the bathroom doing the girls hair - IT WAS THAT GOOD AT REMOVING EGGS - When I finished I literally called all my girlfriends and told them all about it) and comb through the hair section by section (this is the part that is really terrible because she has long curly hair). and once we have combed through all her hair we rinse. I also use a spry on her hair in the morning before I brush it which is basically water with tea tree essential oils in it. ITS WORKING, she has not had them since we went back to school this year - School started on 30th January. YEAH YEAH YEAH.
I hope this wasnt me just rambling and is helpful!!

Oh Lelly. The worst part is the emotional trauma. We dealt with it in February and I had many emotional breakdowns. Many. The laundry is almost unbearable. I am diligently using the Fairy Tales Hair Care now for all my kids as a preventative so it never rears it's ugly head...I hope. Good for you though for seeming to have a good attitude about it.

Thank heavens for blogging, it relieves all kinds of maelstroms.

I love the label for this post.

"OH, THE HUMANITY!"

But seriously. No woman deserves to go through this twice in 3 months. Blagh. Poor Lelly.
