spt

the second element of summer:water

if you've been reading amuse-bouche for any amount of time, you've probably clued in to the fact that i live very close to the water. within the course of one day, my travels may take me near the Atlantic Ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway, the Cape Fear River and the Boiling Springs. this could very well turn into a post about bodies of water...

ferries are great places to experience the Cape Fear River

the Intracoastal Waterway divides the mainland and the beaches on the oceanfront

the area of southport where i live is called Boiling Spring Lakes, so named after a bubbling spring that produced over 50 lakes. some of the lakes are merely puddle sized, some are boating sized, and this one, across the street from our house, is swimming sized!

and, of course, you've read about my adventures with alligators in the pool! this could also be a post about that...

but this will not be a post about all of that water! instead, as i was searching around for spt inspiration last night, this is what i came up with:

the soothing relaxation water brings me during this time of year (sometimes twice a day!)

the strength that water gives me as i drain and refill this cup multiple times every evening

how about you?? did you get wet this week?!?

oh, the refreshment of a nice cold glass of water in the summer is beat by none!

I live on that ice cold water all summer and winter actually. :-) But those beaches and lakes are beautiful too.

Everytime I think of you and water I think of alligators. Do you ever have to worry about them in the water across from your house?

I love the artful way you weave a post, you're very good at it. I love the way you help us discover things about ourselves through SPT. You have truly given me a gift through your hosting of them. You always write about them in a way that makes us want to participate and look for new things. Thanks, Lelly. Thanks for keeping a great blog.

Ah, you beat me on the ice-water theme. How awesome you have a swimming hole just across the street! We have recently had reports of an alligator living in a drainage pipe somewhere in the neighborhood...I immediately thought of you! HA!

Lelly you're wonderful, you're thoughts and words come through perfectly. You are an inspiration!

You also live in a beautiful place but aligators REALLY! I guess every rose has a thorn!

thanks for doing this ~

Nothing's better than a tall, cold glass of water on a hot day!

i'm glad i'm not the only one that thought about taking their camera to the shower! i love my showers, i can't live without them. sometimes i pretend i'm standing under neath a waterfall, or i think of all the time i spent at the beach when i was little.

i am very jealous of all the water you live by!

I thought I could get a shot without getting wet. I was wrong.

Wow! I can't imagine living around that much water, or around alligators for that matter. My fear of water would be greatly intensified.

I would love to be surrounded by all those bodies of water! I too, love my daily time in the shower...didn't even connect that with summer water though!

Jeanette said...

How jealous I am that you get to live near so much water! But you can keep the alligators.

Fun post! I love my shower, too. It's "my" 20-minutes of luxury time each day. And ice-water is my beverage of choice. Always.

You are so clever.

I am a total shower person. I have a big ol' tub in my bathroom and never use it. It is great for washing a couple of kids at the same time!

Love the pictures of all the water--especially your profile as you drive by the Intracoastal something :)

I would love to live near so much water (maybe because I'm a Pisces? hmmm, didn't even think to include that in my blog :) )

Great post as always Lelly!

Cape Fear sounds a little...frightening. I had no idea you were around SO much water!

I love the actual SPT - refreshing uses of water. I agree completely.

Sounds like a great place to live with all the water nearby. We bought a little baby pool just so we could have some water to play in. Not so many options here in Idaho!

I'm back. Cuz I made do water spt posts... I miss living by the beach sometimes. And I'm sad Alexis has never experienced sand between her toes. But I love that you posted about drinking water. I love water. When we getting ready to eat on the 4th of July I sent my brother to the store to get soft drinks because I never think about any other drink but water. It's so refreshing.

So are there alligators in that lake across the street from you? I had no idea there where so many different types of water around there..
What a great take on water though.. Sounds very good right now.

You live in a beautiful place. I can't believe I was so close to Southport and couldn't see it, because it looks amazing. And to see a certain someone who lives there would have been nice too!:)

Now I'm thirsty.

lelly, how can i thank you? for the fun and helping me to dig up memories and feelings i wouldnt have otherwise dug. these posts are so wonderful!! thanks for letting me play!

I'd rather drink water than anything.

Your post had me thinking of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner: Water, water everywhere and (even) a drop to drink!

Oh, I think I would be so scared to live that close to a body of water (across the street). I am so afraid of my children drowing. It doesn't help that I am an ED nurse and see a few drowings or near drowings every summer!

I have a twin big blue water cup (and a green..and a pink) that stays by my side always. And that's about as wet as I've been. We swam a lot in June, but I've been too busy & tired so far in July.

p.s. LOVE your family 4th SP!

LOVE your post and "water" abounding.

I am posting today.... yes, better late than never.

Have a great day on your water!

How lovely and fun to live so close to so many beautiful water sources. That sounds good to me except for the alligators of course!

Can't get wet Lelly... no such thing as rain in the new mexico!

Water = summer survival, right?
(I am trying to figure out the 'I hear you' widget on your sidebar.)

I love your water cup-
That is what I thought I was going to do my summer water about-
I always pull out the same big mug every summer and keep it filled with ice cold water all day-
I don't do it any other season ...
silly really.

You really do live in a beautiful place!
