grace notes

i am listening to Christmas music today.

shocking, i know, coming from the blogger who (at one time) refused to wear the color orange outside of the month of october; the blogger who (up until now) refused to listen to Christmas music before december first.

but i am not just listening to Christmas music for sheer recreation. i am *learning* it, with the intent to perform it.

you see, it's been a month since Seussical! closed, and i really need a reason to sing. as another great "Cat" once said, "if you want to sing out, sing out!"

so some friends and i are forming a group!

who wants to come over for some close-harmony, a cappella vocalizing on sunday afternoon?!?

we have chosen december 13th as our debut, mostly because there's this choral gig, and we know the organizer of the event. it will be a mix of holiday and traditional songs, sacred and secular. we have been talking about forming this group for a few years now, so i am thrilled that we will finally make it happen!

our assignment for our first meeting on sunday is to start brainstorming names for our group. and i got nothin'!

thoughts??

I'm loving that you are doing this! How fun- I am really bad at thinking of names.... but I will ask my teenage son ;) I'm sure he can come up with something amazing!!

see, this is what I love about blogging, meeting people from all over with all kinds of interests and talents....It would NEVER occur to me to get some people together to sing. Well, maybe because I can't sing, seriously, not even in the shower, I would scare myself. I know you guys will have loads of fun!

I was in the Craft store yesterday and they had a Christmas CD playing and it made me cringe. I LOVE Christmas, and I LOVE Christmas music . . . but September?

Singing it live, though, now that's another thing entirely! Happy singing to you!! Your new group sounds terrific.

In the words of Harry Conick Jr, "Happy Ho, Ho, Ho to YOU!"

How fun! I am not creative with picking titles, but Grace Notes is nice. :-) My neighbors in our last home, had a singing group. They were so fun to listen to. I loved fall because the windows were open and we could hear their practices. Wish I were closer to hear yours too. Have fun!!

The thing about Christmas is that it requires preparation. My girls' choir is working on Christmas music already. Go for it!

I want to come...I want to come....

Our church Christmas program is already starting the practices.

I LOVE Christmas music.

What a fun thing to be a part of! You'll have to post more video so we can hear your musical stylings.

I also like The Grace Notes. I can't make it, but some group name ideas:

1. The Dreamers

2. The Jingle Belles

3. The First Days

4. The Mistle Toes

5. The Never Eat The Yellow Snows

That's all for now. Great good luck with the group!

Oh I admire your talent! I wish I could sing well enough that people would actually want to hear. I just wasn't blessed in that area.
Good luck with your group. Why don't you name your group the same as the name of your post!
