it seems that the season is bound to slip by me too quickly this year. i just need to remember to breath deeply and enjoy as many moments as possible. here are a few...
teaching jack to play dreidel - turned out to be one of the best family evenings we've had for a long time. who knew you could have so much fun betting chocolate coins for 45 minutes?!?
matty, the self-proclaimed *bull in the china shop* (for two years in culinary school, the chefs were always telling him he needed to "get more in touch with his feminine side!), surprised me with
awesome ambient lighting above our kitchen cabinets (apparently he has gotten more in touch with his feminine side...)
ribbony goodness from kristi, which got put to use immediately!!
do you see that, hiding behind the bread, *taunting me*?!?! oh, yes, jack want to take on the gingerbread house again. please, please go here to read my true feelings about this project. and then maybe send up a few prayers for me this weekend!!

Do you actually ever eat the gingerbread? What about something like hot glue to get you started? You'll frost right over it. Ok, call me ridiculous. I don't make them either.
The ambient lighting! That didn't make the budget in our kitchen remodel and I miss it every day. Just beautiful in your kitchen!
What a nice, ambient, surprise!! It looks fabulous!
I had to giggle because in a weak, overly sentimental holiday moment, I bought a gingerbread house kit yesterday. Now I'll probably have to actually attempt to make it.
kelly - the ambient lighting is created with 3 strands of 20 count christmas tree lights. and i am TOTALLY going to use the hot glue gun!! BRILLIANT!!
I'm laughing at the hot glue idea for the gingerbread. I say go for it! Blog reading actually made me think of making my own gingerbread yesterday. What?! I had to quickly leave my friend's site to knock some sense into myself.
I have never made a ginger bread house. I have made a graham cracker house, but just used a tub of frosting and a butter knife. Good luck with that!
So glad he got in touch with his feminine side, Lelly, the lighting was worth the effort!
Sorry I've missed your last two SPT's--we've been doing some painting and repair projects and decorations were no where to be seen!
Oh...and I meant to say isn't dreidle fun? I think Hanukkah celebrations are great.
Okay, your post from last year is my favorite thing I've read all week. Hilarious and spot-on! Please glue gun and document...it will keep me giggling until New Years.
I've never played dreidle. I didn't know chocolate coins were involved.
Hmmm....
I'm afraid I have to gingerbread house this weekend, too.
Love the ambiant lighting!
What a happy package of ribbon from Kristi! And such perfect timing, too...
Ambient lighting for the kitchen is a great surprise!!
Good luck with the gingerbread house, we need to make ours this weekend too.
